Quantitative
Ability tests a candidate's ability to handle numerical data and solve
numerical problems. It is one of those sections in any recruitment
exam which can be scored if the aspirant possesses good mathematical
skills and has a way with numbers. But, if the aspirant has trouble with
numbers and does not possess good mathematical skills, the quantitative ability
section can be a steep mountain to climb.
The Quantitative
Ability section tests your ability to analyze and understand the problem rather
than cramming. As the nature of every problem is different, it requires the
application of the mind and knowledge of the tricks, formulas, and processes of
solving teach problems. Remember ! for every exam individual clearing of
cut-off of every section is very important and hence you cannot escape the easy
way.
The following 5
step approach will help you reach your goal of Quants learning:
- Don't be scared of
Numbers
Numbers surround us everywhere - from general calculations at home to
workplace conundrums. Yet they can become very cruel to people who are not
used to them. The first step to improving your quantitative aptitude
is to make friends with numbers. This section requires you to be
comfortable with numbers and solve the questions, including numbers and
statistics in the shortest time possible.
- Accuracy
Since this section involves working with numbers, calculations, and even
formulae, a major part of your success depends on how well you deal with
these numbers i.e. the accuracy of the process. There is always a
chance for errors in this section, and a single error can either make you
lose out on precious marks or consume a lot of your time, both of which
can harm your chances of doing well.
- Practice
There is no better way to improve your chances in the Quantitative Ability
section than to practice and solve as many questions of as many types as
you can. It is only through regular practice that you will not only be
able to familiarise yourself with the kind of questions that are likely to
come but also gain confidence in your ability to solve them accurately.
Accuracy, which is essential for this section can be developed only with
practice.
- Time Allocation
The amount of time you give to each section while solving them is a key to
scoring in this section. Do not give a lot of time to one question as it
reduces the overall time that you actually need to spend on each and every
problem. Also in exams like TCS NQT where each question has its own time
limit, getting the question accurate within that time limit is very important.
- Clarity of concepts
Mathematics is
driven by concepts and to improve your performance in this section, clarity of
concepts is essential. People who learn these concepts will feel jittery while
doing this section, whereas people who have conceptual understanding will ace
this section. For instance, there is a certain way of doing a question, which
asks to find out the unknown age of a person, based on some information. Such
questions will prove tough for people who are not aware of the process, and the reasoning
behind answers to such questions.
Depending on your
preparation, knowledge, and confidence, the Quantitative Ability section can be
both a boon and a bane. But, certainly, it is possible to work on and improve
your performance in this section. Throughout our
training process, the following topics are going to be our focus when it comes

The logical
reasoning section is an important part of competitive exams. It contains
different types of reasoning questions that are intended to judge the
analytical and logical reasoning skills of the candidate.
The logical
reasoning questions can be verbal or non-verbal:
- In verbal logical reasoning
questions, the concepts and problems are expressed in words. The candidates are
required to read and understand the given text or paragraph and according
choose the right answer from the given options.
- In non-verbal logical reasoning
questions, the concepts and problems are expressed in the form of figures,
images, or diagrams and the candidates are required to understand them before
choosing the right answer out of the given options.
Our Understanding

Verbal ability is an important section of most competitive exams. It contains different types of questions that are intended to judge abilities in word power, sentence correction, spotting errors, and verbal reasoning. So, to score good marks in verbal ability, the candidates need to have a good vocabulary and a strong command of English like in-depth knowledge of grammar, adjectives, tenses, articles, and more.
Our focus would be on the following topics:
Topics | Subtopics |
Reading Comprehension | - Understanding reading comprehension
- Approaches to solving reading comprehension
